Wolverines are snow-dependent in order to den, and require low summer temperatures. Worldwide, they are found in areas where snow remains on the ground until mid-May, and where summer temperatures don’t exceed 22 degrees Celsius. In Mongolia, they are found in the Khangai, Altai, Alta-Sayan, and Khentii mountain ranges, and possibly in lower-elevation forests as well.
